|
|
KOMBI'S ONLY! (single colour no beige - though I think thats standards anyway)
August 1958 up to August 1961
From Chassis No. 374 811 up to 835 179
Must have left the factory SWR.
It always seems to me that there ar'nt many - I'm not saying their as rare as hens teeth. But I feel like I can count on 2 hands how many I've seen.
I'll be honest, I'm probably just fishing for more pics to check out
Though I have never seen an original SWR Kombi with Sunroof.
M-code OG paint.
M-code Resprayed.
Or just the M-code.
Lets see'em! I'll go first

Rubbed out the dash which came out pretty nice.
Too bad the rest of the bus won't buff out like that!

I just picked this 61 Split up. It is a 1961 according to the Serial # on the plate in the engine compartment. There is no M Code plate on this bus, & there are no holes in the metal where it should have been ???? I ordered a Birth Certificate from the Motherland, lol.... Unfortunately, there was no camper interior, Just the front flip seat and brackets. All in all , the bus is very solid . The frame , outriggers, jack points, suspension points, etc.. are all solid. Just some cargo floor area near the doors , & some other stuff on the outside near the pass rocker side.
Here are pics of the bus as it sits when I got it home last week. I am making room in the garage for it now. The 67 sitting next to it will just have to wait, lol....

Dove Blue has been played out! Seems like 99% of buses and SCs are Dove Blue. ( Well maybe not but it seems that way , they must have had barrels of that $hit in the factory ) |

The one up top with the white paint strip going on, pretty sure that's the one that used to belong to a friend of mine. It has an ambulance divider as well. Was repainted Dove Blue. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

most are dove blue cause that was the stock commercial color unless you special ordered another color
and yes it is played out but so are most of all the other vw colors
the last color that is going on my 15w would be swr or dove blue or pgsg or any of the other colors combo you see on more then one or two buses at any show _________________ '60 15 window walkthrough

Liking lots of this - been daydreaming of putting a sunroof clip in mine after I make some "improvements"
Really dont know if its somthing I will go through with; luckily its nothing I have to worry about right now - just entertain myself with. Right off to busselecta ! _________________ I want a real garage.

Man, the SWR bus in that ad is WAY nicer than mine. It would make a nice base to install all the doors, windows, and other stuff from mine with a bunch less work. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon
