Don't what its called exactly. I would like to get it off without wrecking it so that I can get everything free of rust. I would love to find something better to hold the covers on. Those pieces are rust magnets. Thanks for the help. |

Invest in a spot weld cutter and start cleaning, there's a spot weld down in each of the notches. You may have better luck drilling small pilot holes from inside the bus, the welds are in the wavy section below the windows, the waves are there to make room for the spot welders electrodes. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

he said it was the clips that hold on the rear side beltlines.
the beltlines being the removable pieces under the side rear windows

I always wondered about the wavy lines. I have found replacements so I may just grind them off. I do have a resistance spot welder too. Not sure if the tongs are long enough. Thanks. |

Looks like most of the rust is above the groove section on the window outer section. If you carefully remove it, treat/remove the rust, you might be able to re-use the original piece. It looks to be in pretty good shape. _________________ '72 Elm Green Deluxe |

I've only see a 2 bolt and a 3 bolt design for holding that piece Also saw a wedge rod with screw to suck it long the shelf. and wedge the piece in place. will try to get you some pics-- the wedge rod was on the 68 bay parts carcass I got for the roof.
Would not weld or glue that piece as pretty sure you'll wand to take it off in the future
Here is how the wedge lock works-
.[img][/img][img][/img]
If you brighten up this next pic 9it wouldn't load for me ) you will see a small nut holding the side cover in place just on the body near that pointy thing.
[img][/img]
This panel on the passengers side with the sliding door only has 2 philips head screws and a small nut holding it on- one on the back welded tab, one on the cast bump latch stop down low and the small nut. a quick rap with a dowel and hammer will pop it off. The passengers side may have 3 screws. and a nut- again just tap it straight up. _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.

I found this. Seems like I could bolt these on so that I could remove them if rust ever became a problem again. Properly painting and sealing and installing the plastic trim would no doubt help too.

my 73 didn't have the wedge bar , just a tight fit in the channel with the bead in there. the 78 didn't have the bead- just the channel and screws and one nut. _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.
