I want to run some wire while my fridge is still out for a future furnace install. I get an acceptable voltage drop (online calc) for a run from under the sink (fuse box) to the heater location with 16awg. Does this sound OK?

So is your Aux battery under the sink and you have a fuse box there, or are you talking about the mini fuse box that the factory installed there?

In either case I'd probably upsize and run 14AWG minimum, 12AWG would be nice - wire is [relatively] cheap for a few foot run.

bigger is better within reason. if 16 will just work 14 or 12 will add margin, for the length you need, the additional cost will be small. learned a while ago to always over design this stuff, more bullet proof!

have fun.

ps standed wire is often prefered over solid in applications with vibration, such as boats, and cars. the stranded wire is more flexable and resists vibration failure much better than solid single strand wires. so look for stranded wire for this for ultimate bestness, however a short run of properly secured solid wire is probably ok, the standed wire just gives you that extra margin,.
