Hi,

i'm refitting my convertible roof and headliner is in, next step rear window but its giving me a problem with measurements, I think my window is too low down.
I wonder if anyone with a convertible 1302 might be able to help.

From the bottom lip at the rear you measure up 3.5 (some places say 4) inches to the base of the window.

If I do this, and mine is tacked into place, my gap at the top (to first bow) is 6" which looks kinda odd to me. Maybe when its all together it evens out.

My measurements are all ok between the bows.

So is it that when the outer skin goes on it evens up and at this stage it just looks odd or am I missing something. Can anyone with a 1302 measure from the bow above the window to tell me what it measures, mine is 6".

These pics show what I mean. My Q, is it right at this stage, and what are top to window measurements?

Mine is almost 7 inches from the lip to the bottom of window rubber, I realise the window frame inside may be a little thicker. I don't know what is correct, but yeah it looks too low seems like it should be more centered. I have 5.5 from the top of the window to the bow. Don't know if my window is the same size. Note mine is not quite centered left to right.

I think the 3.5/4" measurement is from the top rear bow, not the body edge.

There is some more info in this thread: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7147391

thanks KAmes/Gary,

I hate to deviate from specs but it has to look right so I'll try it outside today, folding and opening, check it works ok higher up.
Seeing others I know its not cast in stone to bite me later.

Gary, useful diagram on that link, that's where I got the 4" at bottom (3.5 if using chuck).

cheers guys, I needed to know Smile
