First time poster, long time follower. Hope you all like the build. It started back in 2014, and is currently at the windows, headliner, interior, nick-knack stage of all the little chrome bits. I am suffering from funsalow, so I will post ongoing pics but it will not be for a couple months... 150 dollars a pay check does not go far in the builds lol. If you have any questions let me know. This site is great for knowledge.
By the way the pictures are all over the place and not in order sorry...
Enjoy,
Neil

Excellent job, I love the attention to detail.
Did you use Raptor bed liner to coat the inner fenders and wheel wells. Is the exterior color Reed Green? _________________ 1957 VW Oval Resto Mod |

Yes on the raptor for the wheel wells and underbody. The color is as close as i could get in delton ppg, Prairie beige. Always liked the color for some reason.
Thanks. |

Nice work! That looks great!
My only suggestion would be to maybe post the photos in a more chronological order?
The build is awesome. _________________ 1972 VERT

Not much of an update.. but have most of the paint done. All electrical is done besides some LED headlights, and some of Chip B's LED brake lights. He was very nice to work with.
Sorry about the order of the pictures, I cannot change it now it will now allow me to. |

Nice work!! Prairie beige is a giant pain in the ass to find a good formula for! It's a very nice color though, it's what my brother's 56 is and I had a hell of a time tinting 'close match' formulas to do some blending on his original paint. I'll have to share your thread with him, he's been debating air ride and fuchs for a while...look forward to more progress _________________ Brother's 56 Thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=652839 |

I agree with you on Chip B.'s LED tail lights, very nice quality. I have a pair on order for my '56 Bug to help avoid being rear ended by my fellow motorist's who text and drive. I installed a set on my '64 (sold) and they were BRIGHT! The way VW grounded the snowflakes originally was a poor design in my opinion. _________________ 1957 VW Oval Resto Mod |

There is not much on people converting to disc brakes easily on the site. Do you think people would want wilwood adapter plates that mount directly to link pin spindles? I used ghia disc's, and special bearings to fit everything correctly. I made mine up on a laser table, and welded them up. They fit great, I just dont know if anyone else is into them or not?
Let me know guys? |

Redid some 48 dells I got a while back. New butterflies, shaft, springs. Soda blasted the aluminum parts, and put the jets and brass bits into ketchup to clean and it worked out great. Not bad for 30 year old dells.

Got the Brake lights from Chip. They are amazing. I am waiting for new chrome rings, so the install will be a bit...

Adapters to mount Wilwood calipers to Ghia rotors on a pre-'66 Beetle is a great touch. Not something I need on a beach buggy, but if I was building a Bug I would be very interested. _________________

Yes as much as I tend to lean towards "originality" I've given heavy consideration to putting discs on my VW if/when I restore it. Your setup looks sweet! _________________ 1959 Fjord Blue Volkswagen Beetle

Thanks guys, I might start putting together kits for the link pin guys with drum spindles. Merry Christmas and stay safe over the New Years. |
