Sort of.
Thanks to the accumulated knowledge here, I suspected my hot start difficulties were due to a failing idle stabilizer. So I unplugged it to check, and I got NO start. WTF? Another suggestion was the fuel filter, and my pre-filter does get grungy, so I changed it. No luck. For giggles, changed the big metal filter too. No luck.
Back to the Samba FAQs looking for help and saw the original idea about the idle stabilizer, and DOH! realized I missed a step. When I unplugged it, I forgot to plug the wires together. (Though when I plugged it back in it still didn't start.) Went back, did it right and bam! No problem starting. Will start with some encouragement when warm, but the idle is terrible, constantly wants to die. Don't know if it's drivable.
Off to VC to get a new one. Love simple, easy fixes, especially for a mechanical jackass like myself. Unfortunately, Descend on Bend is looking doubtful. _________________ 1985 Tintop 4 sp GW 2.3 “Connie”
