I failed Statistics and suck in math in general except when it comes to counting ducketts. I'm holding onto my bus til i croak and my Nieces get to go into Battle Royale mode to see who gets it! I do like seeing the data though and trying to figure it out, so thanks for showing us all of this.

Maybe someday I can actual get my first one...and the way prices are going, I might be able to afford a Split.

Just a quick hit today. For 2017, looking at number of adverts placed for Splits by day. It doesn't vary much, I thought there might be more seasonality to it.

There are not to many concourse level comercials out there,at least ones that are for sale. It would be interesting to see just a few actually sell that are restored to show room condition. Most that do sell are hacked to death or are sold for parts for other projects. Rolling Eyes

Short-term, non Brazil price trends.
While EB has a new NON-Brazil category, I have not yet done extracts using this new category ...yet. However, I can look for and exclude all Brazil/Brasil, etc. related terms. This is a more short term extract: 2016-2018 and reflects all adverts, meaning both those active and closed in this period. Prices flat but some models do trend up.

Ignore "Walk Thru", that is a data error and not shown here. For "Standards", that is "Standards", not "Standard - Walkthrus" if such a thing exists.

The commercials I was referring to are the the most basic of the panel bus. Like the ones used in fleets by commercial contractors .And yes the single and double cabs also qualify as such. But as the most basic panel I mean the ones that had the cardboard dividers ,no fuel gauge and no interior rearview mirror. This means it had to be a bullet bus because fuel gage was standard on 62 on up busses.

In the Whines thread, I posted a statistic about how many Double Door Walkthrus have been listed on TheSamba since 2004. If anyone has any particular questions like "how many (model)" or "what is the average price of (year)/(model)" I can answer that here. Unfortunately I dont have the ability to post EB's data that I massaged into a searchable database online, so the requests for now will have to be adhoc. If you prefer a private answer, let me know and I will do it via private message.

Most interesting, and timely. I am e-mailing with my collector car insurance agent today to get my '56 single cab insured. I sent pics, noted that it was a farm find with the original engine, and he replied "Underwriting is asking for a bill of sale. They are only seeing these in the 18-20K range." I asked for coverage a fair amount above that.

This data collected and collated by otherbeach may be of use.

Anyone else have trouble, or found tips and tricks to get insurers to recognize the value of "these old buses"?

Insurance has been covered a lot & you'll get a lot of different opinions. Best to just read up / decide. It's a sticky subject... like asking about which oil to use.

I'd suggest picking one of the threads I provided a link to... state your intended purpose of the vehicle / miles/use/etc. and go from there. Or perform a more refined search than I did.

Please go to the beginning of this thread before wondering what I am doing.

My data consists of two related extracts. One is EB's set of data from all adverts provided to me in 2018. The second is my ongoing extracts of active adverts for Splits made in April 2019 (I can flag and did remove Brazil from pre-2018 data).

This graph and table is for my personal extract of active adverts, this one made in April 2019.

Data is Average Asking Price.
