Hi there
Working on putting my newly acquired weary back on the road and the previous owner had planned to put a single progressive carb
However most of the part to put it back in FI are still there although I’m missing some
Been looking at the site and I did found some good information
I guess what I’m missing is the name of some of the part and also some explanations how to perform the change
Here is what I have
Injector ( just came back from overhaul)
Some hose
Air system ( don’t know the right name for it)
Harness
EGR temperature switch
I have the charcoal, resister pack, ECU, stand for the air system, pump and fuel filter, as well as this
I know I’m missing all the central part with the manifold , some of the metallic pipes, cold start valve, etc.... but could you please help me with name of what I’m missing so that I can start searching on th classified section
Thanks a lot |

This gives the identity of many of the parts:

If I remember correctly the Vanagon Bentley has a great picture of the L-jet setup for the 80-83 models.

I have it but it is somehow hard for me not being english native to understand all the technical words as well as some of th picture / drawing are not that friendly when you don't have the real beast in front of you
in my case I try to reinstall the FI system hence the difficulty
but with all the rest , the bentley will be of great help of course |

Yes, I went thru the process of acquiring and installing all the components. It would have been a nearly impossible feat without the help of The Samanistas and especially Asiab3 ( AKA Robbie).
After we completed the transformation, Robbie created this thread to help others...
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=670338&highlight=fuel+injection
And here's my thread of the purchase and carb-to-fuel injection process:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=663898&highlight=poor+sap
Between this list and the previously mentioned Fuel Injection Troubleshooting Manual, you should be able to do it too.
BTW... If you don't have the newly rebuilt injectors operating within a month, they may not work. But if that happens, there's a procedure to "unblock" them, although I don't know what that procedure is. _________________ -Kent-

Mystery Part #1 is a fuel pressure regulator with pressure gauge. This would have been important if you had installed the carburetor, since most only need 2-3 pounds of fuel pressure. Not needed with the FI system. _________________ Shawn

... and mystery part #3 is an ignition control module, which you can use if you've got the corresponding electronic ignition system (only '79 CA busses had it, IIRC).
Other than identifying and collecting the missing parts, you might want to get familiar with the vacuum hoses you'll need to find or replace too:

Looks like a high pressure reg for FI. Probably to replace this one.
