That’s kind of what I thought, but someone else suggested using the carb vacuum port.. |

Just think about this for a minute, The vacuum port at the bottom of the carb just below the throttle butterfly is the same as having it at the big vacuum on the manifold. That port is pulling no vacuum until the throttle is opened. The ports above the throttle butterfly are for vacuum advance and other duties.

Got it sorted out. The lower vacuum port on the carb
Does not provide a vacuum, even when I left it open, the idle didn’t change and no registered vacuum with a tester. However, the upper, driver’s side vacuum works perfectly for the warm air intake. Hooked the hose up to that, and the flap opened up to allow the warm air to enter the engine. After a short warm-up and drive around the neighborhood the flap was closed, this sucking in only the “cold” air. In any case, glad I got another thing working on the Thing. Next up, front brakes.... |
