There is an add at the bottom of the forum page that starts playing sounds.
I can't see the ad except for a thin strip, but when I right click it says "Powered by JW Player 7.4.4"
This precludes viewing the Samba at work, where i need sound turned on, but I don't want to be busted for non-work web surfing.
Can anything be done to prevent this?
Here is a snippet of the ad:

This is not allowed by the Ad provider and it should be removed soon.
If you see it again I can block it too but I would need to know the advertiser name - meaning what web site is being advertised in the banner or if you click on it. _________________ How to Post Photos

Thanks. This is the only time I have had this happen (the sound thing). I was hesitant to click on it. I waited for it to reload so I might get another screen shot, but after 3-4 repeats it had stopped and turned black. If it happens again I'll click on it and grab a screen shot. |

Just now got hit with another auto-run ad with sound... I killed it after a few seconds (again, at work!) so I didn't get the source. It was probably again from those that play at the bottom of a page. That funny triangle in the wide, short box at the bottom.
Next time I'll try to remember to lower the volume instead of mute, so I can identify it. |

if you can, use Opera as your browser, it blocks all that stuff. browsing is so much faster whenever you are on a site with ads _________________ regards

I don't mind silent ads; after all, the revenue keeps the site up! Plus, on a work computer we can't install any software, and the Powers That Be have chose Microsoft Internet Exploder so we are stuck.
It's pretty rare; what six months since the last time? |

I've been dealing with a Ford ad all day. It's been messing up the screen to the point that I can't scroll up or down, I can't close it. and it keeps playing over and over. It can't be muted either. |
