Ok,just because the mechanic replaced the fuel filter, doesn't mean it's being supplied fuel..
Couple of ways to go about this now:
Remove fuel line from pump to carb and put the line in a mason jar, then have someone turn the car over while you watch,I can't quite remember the correct reading,I think it's 10ml for every 10 cranks, either way the jar should be filling nicely and not dribbling out..
Remove the sending unit on the tank and have a good look at the condition of the tank, especially around the main outlet on the bottom, that screen could be clogged, some people have found them to be in rock hard condition from crap in the tank..
You could also rent a borescope and go down through the filler neck..
As for venting, you don't need any of that expansion tank/charcoal filter stuff,it's for emissions, most people just leave all that stuff for stock look.
Have a look at this pic, follow it exactly, seeing as you have the tank up front, https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/561035.jpg _________________ '68 Campmobile-Pedro

Last weekend I went to pick the car back up from the lads at Eurotek after they spent some time trouble shooting the issue. Turns out, it was the distributor. Swapped for a different one and was back to running solid again.
It was the very last thing I suspected, of course.
Since I have had the car back, gave me the chance to put on the rain gutter trim.
I made the little split pins out of some 12 gage wire and fiddling around. After a couple of failed attempts I was able to make 4 half decent ones to use. |
