today some informations about searching details of celebration Georgsmarienhütte 14. july 1955.
i wrote Volkswagen history communication and aks for searching 1955 Details. i asked what is happend with all the documents of karmann factory when Volkswagen get the complete karmann factory. following answer i got some days ago. notice that i translate german to english with Google translator.
Volkswagen wrote: "It will take quite some time for the Karmann inventory to be recorded and accessible. This will take a few more years, which I ask for your understanding. Unfortunately, no use is possible until complete distortion."
so i think it will be not possible to view one Piece of documents for a lot of years. remember that the end of karmann was 2009. 9 years later they wrote me that the documents not available for unknown years. with my 51 years i believe that the News are available when i life in retirement home

These are two other names she seemed to use in her professional career. In the old days I would try to find these names in the telephone directories of the locations where she lived. If there are several names similar to the one you are looking for I would simply call them and ask if they were relatives of the person in question.
My sister found her birth-mother this way in the directory where she used to live, just by phoning people with the same name. Just 3 calls and she found her her birth-mother's sister who gave my sister her birth-mother's number.

Maybe the Karmann family have these colour photos. To repurpose John’s method, is it worthwhile exploring the German phone book for a lead, Udo?

Looks like tomorrow Oct 31 marks 20 years since Wilhelm’s passing.
The NY Times had an obituary for Wilhelm listing next of kin.. “Mr. Karmann is survived by his wife, Christiane; his son, Wilhelm Dietrich, who is a manager of the company; two daughters, Christiane and Stephanie, and eight grandchildren.”
