The Bosch 009 distributor was never installed on an automotive engine at the factory. It was manufactured in vast quantities and still is but not in Germany or Brazil. Wherever you got your information on the 009 look at it with a jaundiced eye.
I'm not an expert on Porsche but i believe the 914 was a carburated engine that used a dual vacuum dual advance distributor. A vacuum distributor needs to be matched to the specific carburetor. I am a distributor restorer. If you PM me I may be able to help you obtain the correct distributor. _________________ Roads Scholar &

An 009 or 050 distributor will work or if you have a port to tap for vacuum then a vac advance model like the 034 SVDA will work. In the US, all 914 had electronic fuel injection (L or D) so the distributors had triggers for the FI in them. European models had FI and dual carbs. I had a US 1972 VW T2 bus with 1.7L Type 4 engine with dual Solex carbs. That model along with VW 411/412 were available in Europe so that distributor would work too. _________________ CMC '57 Porsche Speedster Replica and Dolphin boat tailed full pan VW MOD-T Street Buggy |
