Today I’m recovering the bottom cushion of the rear seat on my 1971 Super Beetle. On the back of the seat bottom there’s a tab. I’m not sure what it’s called but I think it’s a safely thing designed to keep the seat in place.

My question is whether I should cut a slit in my new seat cover to fit this tab through, or if I should simply hog ring the cover on either side of the tab and let the cover drop down around it.

I suspect the best solution is to cut the seat cover, but I’d welcome some moral support before I take a knife to my new purchase.

Thanks!
