no.
As you'd expect, it depends on how you measure it. Fan belt on or off? Which version, with which carb? Single port or dual port?
Boiling it all down, the general #s are in the 53-57hp range, at the flywheel, with the belt on, in stock form.
A good builder can get more by blueprinting and optimizing stuff, but that's a different topic entirely. _________________ It's just advice, do whatever you want with it!

Yes.
When you see factory #s in the 70-80hp regions, that's for the type 4 engine, not the type 1, 2, 3.

Dead stock 1600 dual port heads, single 34 solex, belt on, stock exhaust.
So the published factory rating of 60 was crankshaft HP and not at the wheels? |

Yeah, type 1 1600 dual port engines are rated 50 hp DIN at the flywheel, with the fan belt on.
Type 2 dual port engines have 2 digits lower CR among other small differences. They are rated 47-48 hp DIN. dependant on where in the World they were going.
Type 3 dual port engines are rated 54 hp DIN.
In the US they used an older SAE rating at the time which rated them more hp. The SAE standard of today is close to the DIN and EU norm. They vary about 2% if memory serves.
