I'm considering getting a 914 but I'm 6'4" and I don't know if I'd fit very well. My brother has a 2003 Boxter and although I can physically get behind the wheel with the seat all the way back, I can only bear it for a little while. My right knee goes in first, my legs can't move, and I have to work the pedals by moving my feet by the ankles.
Does a 914 have more room?

Its similar in a 914 but you have a little more width. Also the 914 seats sit back a little farther because you are technically nearly flat on the floor.
Its not a real answer. Your best bet is to find someone local who will let you sit in one for a minute or two. It also depends on how much of that 6'4" is torso versus leg

same here, 6'4. i am not very comfortable. hair hits the targa top and legs are a bitch to fold under the steering wheel. I have driven 356 and early 911 and no problem with those. Find a nice 912 or a 911 instead you will be happier in those |

6' 3" here, and it isnt too bad for me.
a lot of it has to do with inseam vs torso. _________________ Current VWs:

This may be a bit late.
I am 6'2" and have driven a couple of 914s. Yes they are a bit close! I presently own two 944s and they have gobs of room! I can't reach the pedals with the seat all the way back! 10 hour trips are a piece of cake and the handling is awesome! |

Thanks for the replies.
After considering all the pros and cons, I'm leaning more twords a Ghia than a 914. I like the look of both but, the Ghia has more interior room and the fact that it uses a lot of common Vw parts is also a factor.
As far as a 944, they just don't do anything for me at all besides being cheap to buy.

I am 6' and I barely fit into my 1970 Ghia. The seats just don't adjust much at all while the 76 914 has tons of adjustment to slide back. Headroom on a 914 is ok for my friend who has one too and he is 6'4" but he removed the sunvisors for better view or you can remove the Targa top for tons of headroom _________________ 70 Ghia Black convert-9/69 build date-stock w/133k 1600 SP-barn find now with a rebuilt tranny and engine

That is odd,
Do you have a long inseam?
I am 30 inch inseam, 6' 3" overall, and cannot drive my 71 Ghia with the seat all the way back.
Even wiht my size 13 clodhoppers, it is too long of a reach for the clutch pedal!
Due to my shoe size, the 914 is better for me than the Ghia.
EEE shoes are a bit wide for the gap from the brake pedal to the tunnel. _________________ Current VWs:
