Thanks folks!
Put in a few hours today. Started fitting the rear wheel well section, and the curves weren't lining up right:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Had to adjust the curve on the end:

Tacked in:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Finished up, along with the C pillar:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

B pillar welded in too:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Fixed the front face of the rocker and started mocking it up:

Shouldn't be too difficult to get this sorted out. Just have to figure out what order to weld things up!

Continuing with the rocker:
Got the front section fit and tacked in:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Lined everything up and stitched these together:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

It was a grueling process adding that much material without a backer, but me and my lil' Lincoln pulled through.

It did pucker in a tad so it will need a bit of filler.

Got the rear lined up and tacked in.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Plug welded along the bottom:

Yay progress!
I think I'll start hacking the floor out next.

Thanks BusJunky!

I did manage to get the bulkhead repaired the last few days.

I plan on spinning it around in the garage and working on some mechanicals so I don't get burnt out on rust repair, although I'm rounding the corner on that. Just have driver's side outriggers, tophat sections, B pillar, inner and outer rocker on that side. Then floor, cut wheel well repair... Shocked

Does anyone know if I can use the small portion of a '68 wheel well arch to repair mine? I don't really want to buy an entire repair section if I only need a small portion.

This one at $38

Vs. a WW panel for $120.

Yes, I'm a cheapass.

Some random goings on here.

I started assembling the top end of the Type 4. Now featuring rebuilt heads and 96mm P/Cs.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Big props to Bugguy1967 for all the help and long-distance assistance here.

This has to be the dirtiest, nastiest, greasiest free engine I ever laid eyes on.
All the tins are layered in gunk:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Heads, valve train on, new oil cooler seals and front pulley seal:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I won't be using the stock oil filler, so I welded that up:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

The battery tray was surprisingly solid, so I wire brushed the crap out of it, cleaned it up, and slopped some POR15 in there:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

On to some rear-end electrics:
Both tail light harnesses featured several splices in a row:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Made new ground jumpers:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Tail light harnesses soldered and shrink-wrapped:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Mocked up a panel where the original regulator mounted for power distribution and relays:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Terminal block, starter relay and fuel pump relay:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I don't trust crimp connectors, so I always crimp lightly and solder them.
Wire out the top running left is for the fuel pump.
Terminal block on the left is mounted up in some existing holes. I think I'll use it for switched power, since the type 4 has two chokes, three cutoff solenoids, a fuel enrichment solenoid, and of course the coil. I can daisy-chain most of that, but it might be handy.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I found this low-pressure fuel pump with really good reviews. It came with 4 clamps and a plastic filter, but I like to use metal ones.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Pump and filter mounted up on rubber grommets:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I agonized quite a bit on pump placement, but settled here because I thought it might be a good idea to keep it out of the engine compartment. In this position it sits in line with the fuel line route.

Wiring detail:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Sent the fuel tank to a local radiator shop to be soaked, since it was full of sludge.
This weekend I might throw the long block in there and see how I'm going to mock up the mustache bar. Should be fun!

Seems like a good spot for the pump to me. Is there going to be a filter before the pump too?

The wiring looks so much better already, thats what I need on my bus for sure. I have bunch of wiring that has been spliced and spliced again over the years.

Well that's a big facepalm. Filter needs to go before the pump Embarassed
Guess it's going under there too!

More random progress:

I stuffed the type 4 in there!

While it was in, I mocked up and welded in the mustache bar mounts. I boxed the frame where they mount, and used 1/8" steel plate for the hanger. Welded all the way around and bolted in:

(Also I got a starter in and it works!)

Then I started modifying the tin to work with the engine compartment. I roughly trimmed around the front (transaxle side) tin, then started closing up sections of the side tins that I trimmed to fit:

For now I have to wait for my flywheel to be modified for the new pilot bearing and I'm ordering a brazilian rear apron to hack.

Today's progress:
I was going to try to fix the inner fender bottom, but decided to make the whole piece:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I'll dry fit the rocker before tacking it in place.

Fixed the front outrigger:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I replaced the entire rear outrigger (guess I forgot pics) because it was smashed in from the bottom, probably by a jack.
Outriggers done and outer rocker clamped in place:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Made the front and rear tophats:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I was able to make all four tophat repair pieces from one section!

Dropped the B pillar in place:

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I guess I'll have to make an extension.

For a change of pace I welded up the brake booster ports on the intakes and gave them a light coat of satin black:

That's all for today!

They're just a set from TMI, ordered from Cip1.com.
Not bad to install with horsehair pads. I hear if you use foam, you should cover the foam with a garbage bag to help the cover slide over.
Fix all the little sharp tabs on the seat frame and prepare for some sore fingers!

Thanks!

Just realized I'm almost out of welding gas, so I may have to skip around to other areas this weekend.
