Hi I need to find a replacement dash for a 71 westy. To help my search I need to know what other years had the same dash.
Can anyone please advise me on which years will suit?
Thanks |

the ignition lock mechanism is one of the main factors. Later models have a slightly different placement that would require cutting to make it fit. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Yep, the cutout for the ignition pod is going to be the issue, 68-mid 69 have a large cutout for the humped pod, mid 69- mid 74 have a cutout that will be compatible with the 71 switch, mid 74 changed to the integrated ignition/wiper/signal unit and the cutout shrank considerably. Any dash up to 79 will fit the bus, but later ones will require butchery around the column opening. Later dashes also lack alot of switch holes, but the metal behind the padding still retains the holes for your drilling convenience.
The defog vents changed in 73, but the early dash top interchanges (if you have it). _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Thanks for the replies folks. So glad it's not a one year only job. |

73 also went to two bolts on the a-pillars, versus three on earlier dashes _________________

So, based on the two bolts on the a-pillars, the dash pictured below is 73 or later. Can anyone help narrow down the exact year? Hoping to replace the butchered dash on my 79.

Looks like it'll work, it's mid 74 or later, they didn't change much after the swiches moved to the column. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
