Dayton is a neat little town. Haven't been there in years, but that looked like a good show turnout. Maybe a new plan for Father's day weekend next year. _________________ nothing |

This was by far my favorite car at the show. It's a 1915 American Le France fire truck that's been converted into a Speedster for the Peking to Paris race. It has it's original 900 Cubic Inch engine that develops 130hp and chain drive to the rear wheels. Hand build aluminum body. So HUGE and SOOOOOOOOOO Cool!!!! 40" tires! Lots of pics taken of this beauty!

Wow, that is huge. Glad the guy is standing there for scale. _________________ How to Post Photos

It's the Columbia county seat, so there was always money in town for things like that beautiful courthouse and whatnot. |

Time to get the upper lights wired up.
Setting up the wiring harness for the lights and installing the pins for the electrical connectors.
I used a marine through deck fitting to feed the wiring through the cab and ensure a waterproof seal. The wire is 6 conductor.
Wiring running up to the rack is hidden behind the cover plate along the pillar.
Light!!
Installing a Blue Sea dual USB charger.
Hole drilled in the knee pad under the dash.
And installed
And with the engine cool this morning I decided it was time to check the valve clearance. The intake valves were all good with only a couple slightly snug. Two of the exhaust valves were tight and the rest were right on the money. Good to go for a while now.
More to come soon...

No kidding! I'd suspect aircraft making a highway landing. Imagine the guy coming toward you who ignores the friendly quick high beam flash when he has his highs on...
Your rig should be used to advertise for the makers of those LEDs.
Beautiful updates as usual sir! _________________

Today's project....make/install new headliners.
The original headliners were sagging, stained and in poor shape. First up remove the fabric from one of the headliners so I can use the board as a pattern to make new backing boards.
Pattern ready to cut.
Two new backing boards cut out and ready to assemble.
1" foam being glued to the backing boards, weights applied during the drying process.
Test fitting before further progress. You can see the notch on the passenger side liner for the wiring heading up to the roof rack from the pillar, I will be fabricating a cover to hide the wiring.
Cutting the notches where the retaining clips engage the headliner.
A little sanding on the corners of the foam and they will be ready for cover.
At this point I gathered up the new headliner material and headed over to a good friends house to add a custom touch, she is really great with all things fabric and does awesome custom embroidery work. We settled on size, color and font and started to apply the UNIMOG logo to the headliner material. We settled on a gold/tan color that matches the trucks color perfectly. Thanks for all the help Linda!
One side down.
Applying glue to lock it down
Cutting the slots for the clip locations
Prepping the corners. We fit everything then pulled it back, applied the glue, trimmed the folds and locked them down.
Passenger side Done. Came out really nice!
Old and new together. Old unit is nasty!
And pictures of the liners installed.
I will build a custom metal cover to hide the wiring.

Some pics from NW Mogfest 2017, What a Blast!! We camped for 5 days and stayed for the total solar eclipse. Lots of great rigs and awesome people. Can't wait to go back next year!
About 650 miles total and the truck did great, just sat back and cruised at Mog Speed
Rolling towards Mogfest. The cab isn't to loud but on long trips I wear earplugs with the windows down.
Made it to Mogfest and Hodaka camp is set up, dad and I were up early.
Lots of cool rigs at Mogfest
Watching the start of the total solar eclipse
Hodaka Wife trying out a Unimog SEE Backhoe in the woman's backhoe competition.
Even seen Bob Ross down by the Pit. lol
Group shot with our friends....Fun Stuff
And if you'd like to visit Mogfest for 30 minutes and get a better feel of the event you can watch the video I made up from my drone footage.....30 Minutes Of Mogfest 2017.

After 3 months of looking for updates, I poked around and got caught up on EP. Having enjoyed your Syncro build, and now the Mog, please post a link here to whatever your next project is. Happy Holidays. |
