My original rear flex lines did not have the rubber donut on them. The aftermarket replacements come with it. It is not shown in ETKA.

Is there a specific location on the hose you are supposed to put it? What does it do for us?

in general the donut is to keep the hose from touching/chaffing on a non-moving surface and wearing thru.

the reason that the vanagon one has one even when oem didn't is that the hose is likely listed for multiple vehicles (same length&fittings) and one of them requires the donut.

Sometimes a part like that donut is also used as a simple mass damper to reduce the tendency of the hose to vibrate from either passing air or suspension movements.
