hi folks,

a friend sent me some pics of a bay window bus he took on a trip in Laos... i posted here...

at the picture #2 of the yellow coffee bus....on the left of the engine, behind the tail light ... there's a device/contraption with hose/pipe running to the carb...

what's that? any idea?

Compressor for A/C? Seems out of place with this "working" Bus.

And a bottle of what on the left?

Maybe the compressor is for a refrigeration unit.

I see copper lines running somewhere, but not to the carb. Looks like standard vw early bay carb.

It looks like pretty standard Aircon tech, The part connected to the engine is obviously the compressor, the part in the battery tray looks like the TX Valve, and the copper line is the fine capillary tube for the high pressure side. Running to a condenser somewhere outside the engine bay.

It looks like this bus has been retrofitted with standard refrigeration components.
