Bottled water or soda, put the lid on it and it won't spill. But I know you said fast food where they give the mega gallon size soda.

I've totally found a fix for this! I went to Target (Wal-Mart or Kragen works, too) and found a pair of cheap plastic cup holders. I cut off the part that would allow it to hang onto a regular car door and used the hole for screw-mounting to mount it on the second clip (I use screws) back from the top right corner of the door panel.

Go to a bicycle store and get a water bottle cage. Mount it to your steering column tube.

WalMart sells a combined cupholder, mini-tray contraption as a "Kids Meal" holder to hang on the back seat of a regular car.
It is the perfect size to hang off the heater control knob in the middle of the bench seat. Has two cup holders and a rectangular recess in the middle.
Cost all of $4.99.
For my walkthru, I strung the strap behind the drivers side middle seat track, and it rests on the walkthru floor perfectly.
Here's the walkthru setup:

And of course, here is the low-tech solution:

I have a walk through so drinks are no problem but in my 61 bug I used a "Bar Buoy"---they were used on boats and were "gimbaled" so they took almost any movement---Plus I always liked the name Very Happy

I was thinkin bout the same thing with a smoothie between my legs the other day tryin to make a turn. I think that my old vanagon had a Caddie Buoy on it. Super cool cup holder made of metal mesh that went with the flow of the ride, kind of rocks back and fourth. Im gonna hit the Boat store. I think the one I had only held a coke can size though. Wonder if they make em in Big Gulp size? I'm usually really thirsty.

That's the same ones! I thought you could put some protected material on the inside of the grill area and screw into it, between the slots!

Here's a photo of the "Bar Buoy" in my bus. I stole the idea from someone else's bus a couple of years ago.

I took the clip off the hanger so I could screw it into the existing screw hole in the door.

Works great.

Hey scott's picture made me think----What hand do most people hold the drink in ? I'm a lefty and like to use my right hand. It's a drag when it is time to shift---but I can't help it. just a quick poll Wink

Not a bad idea. I've been trying crap all day until I got smart enough to do a search.

Way to resurrect a 5 year old thread eh?

I went to the garage and stole mine off my bike. I've been driving my bus to work lately and I'm tired of holding my coffee between my legs. I mounted mine to the gas heater shroud.

I'm still going to look for one of these to replace the bike bottle holder.

My old walkthrough splits had enough room on the left side of the seat for a gallon jug of water, I just hold my beer in my hand nowadays.

I've done that. On the '67-'67 busses there's enough room to the left of the drivers seat.
