Hey everyone. Be on the lookout in San Diego. My white 86 westy was just stolen from my carport in Solana Beach. License plate is 4ZZC439. Call the police if you see it. I'll update if it's found.

Thanks everyone. They were kind enough to leave a beat up Honda Accord in its place, so hopefully they're just joyriders and it will turn up. Good tip Mark. I'll call around tomorrow. |

if the shops know to be on the look out, some people can be quite brazen, getting a new lock set for it.
most likely someone living in the car wanted more space while it rains

Yes. That pic is from thanksgiving. Everything is the same except that there is no gas can on the roof.
Some identifiers:
Collection of national park/travel stickers on the passenger side
Westylife sticker on driver side
"Encinitas Surfboards" pads on roof rack
Yakima skybox pro 12 roof box
Bfg all terrain tires
Missing center cap on driver side front wheel (Gowesty 15" wheels) |

So sorry to hear about that! That looks like my van's twin brother. I'm also in Encinitas and drive all over the county during work. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes out for you. Hang in there... _________________ 1987 Westfalia GL |

Brings me chills, and the need to search Samba for the GPS tracker / locator thread. Hope you find that sweet rig in good shape, and get the thieves put where they belong. _________________ '87 Westy 'Flossie','86 Westy 'R1','86 tintop GL - Subi2.2 'J2','83.5 stock tintop L 'ZoomBus','74 Karmann Ghia, '63 Notch |

How about from the front? South African headlights, OEM round, or OEM square (I forget which was stock for '86)? _________________ 1990 Multivan - "Ohana"

That really sucks. I've had people knock on my door at home asking if I wanted to sell my Camper. Scary. _________________ '90 Westy / automatic.

After reading this I added a basic kill switch during my lunch break today.
Works well and the switch is super hard to find but easily accessible. Assuming the fuel relay is the same for the 2.1 then this should work just fine.
I used a similar SPST switch I had laying around.

Everyone should take a few minutes to set this up. Not fool-proof but someone will be spending a lot of time trying to get mine to start. I'm betting they don't have that kind of time. |
