Hey Guys,
Although my local shop tolerates my Eurovan, they have a hard time getting parts and they lack expertise on this peculiar vehicle. I'm in Half Moon Bay, which is (broadly speaking) between Santa Cruz and SF. Does anyone know of a good, trustworthy Bay Area shop that knows Eurovans well? There's a lot of knowledgeable Vanagon places, but the EV is an odder bird... _________________ Farfignewton! |

I am having a poptop conversion van made by Cole at Cavevans. I do not have it yet, but since I also live in the Bay Area, I have also been thinking about shops.
Buslab in Berkeley won't touch them, but I have hard good things from Advanced Auto Werks and intend to take it there. They have two locations in SF.

I'm on the opposite end of the Bay Area from you, but Dan from Whole Auto in Petaluma has been good to my vans, and has replaced two transmissions for me so far. _________________ '15 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Crew 144 hi roof

Probably too far for you, but in east bay I have had pretty good luck with LaVere's in Concord (also where I live). The shop is VW-Audi only. _________________ 99 EVC

I've had good luck with my 93' Eurovan @ Fred's Garage in San Carlos/Redwood City, they are pretty busy, so it takes them some time, but they are knowledgable and fair in my experience. |

Freds just did some work for us for a van that was on the road and I have nothing but good things to say about them. _________________ -------

Hi again this may be too late; but I have a 2000 Weekender, and I've gotten really great service from Advance AutoWerks in SF. They have two locations and specialize in Volkswagens. Taking mine in for a mother of all service tomorrow -- replacing the heater core.... |

Fred's was awesome, but they retired. Bonnie in San Rafael (Vanguard) also retired. A little bit of a one two punch...
So, any other EV recommendations - mechanics you trust in the Bay Area - short of driving to Stephan's in Sacramento?
I am also in Half Moon Bay, so would love some good options in the Peninsula or in the city. |

Euro Quattro in Mountain View on Old Middlefield Road. Tony Dvorak the owner owns a '93 himself that he restored. Has been servicing our '97 for 18 years, and I see other Eurovans there regularly. |

I'm kinda curious why any VW/Audi shop worth its salt wouldn't want to work on an EV. My late model shares a ton of similarities with a Mk4 Golf/Jetta with a VR6 and auto trans. The early models seem to be made up of parts from the B3 Passats and Audis. _________________ Casey--

I literally confirmed N80 purge valve failure on my T4 microBus by swapping\ out the N80 from my Beetle.
Note to self..N80 replacement on Beetle sucks.... _________________ .ssS! |
