Love the app. I have an enhancement request - allow pinch-zoom on pictures.

Thanks... if you tap the photo, it'll open the image only and then you can pinch-zoom. Not the most ideal method having to open the image itself but it does work this way...

Thanks again

Abel, I am trying to log in to the new app and it is not recognizing my password, likely it is my error. I cannot not find a password retrieval option on the login screen. What should I do?

Be sure you have the latest update from the app stores, we just updated the app a week ago. You'll need to re-register for the new version unfortunately.

The login screen for the new version should look like this

I do have that login screen on the app.

So I need to sign up as a new member? Is that what you mean by re-register?

Yes. Sign up as a new member.

We had to move the app in order to support ios users and adhere to the new apple rules. We moved all of the data but user logins and passwords were not migrated. Was not possible

Got it. I thought I could log in and 're-register'. I did not equate re-register with signing in as a new member. Sometimes I am too literal.... Laughing

Abel,

What is a good way to contact you? (I need to modify my new user name and my rescue squad info does not appear.) Very Happy

Having received the email about the new version of Vanalert that's out now, I uninstalled the original and tried to install the new one on my Android phone. "Your device is not compatible". Oops...

Not compatible? Hmmm Which phone you using

As in the screenshot - Samsung SM-S765C with Android 4.3, and also a Huawei Y530-U00 with Android 4.3.

The Nexus 7's are fine with Android 6.0.1.

For those phones that are incompatible... I'm working on setting up the webapp version so you can visit that in your browser.

After doing some research, it appears this has become a problem for many users of many different apps that have had updates, even minor ones. Not the apps fault, but bloody Google trying to force people to upgrade their version of Android - and I'm not going to update my phone just for a couple of apps.

Apparently, if I can download the android app on some other platform and then transfer across, all should be well. Is it available for direct download from somewhere?

no direct download as of yet but I am working on the webapp version so that'll work on all phones via a browser. In your case you could add an icon to your phone and point it to the url once it's live and it'll open on your phone.

I'm just waiting for the DNS changes to fully propagate.

The Web App version of VanAlert is now online. This is for users that are running an older version of iOS or Android that can't download the app onto their phone.

http://m.vanalert.com

Once on that page on your phone's browser check the settings option in your browser of choice and see if there's an ADD TO HOME SCREEN option. That option will add a shortcut on your phone so you can just click the shortcut and it'll take you to the web app.

The one thing about the web app is it doesn't read your phones GPS location in order to list shops etc closest to you. It lists them in alphabetical order. You can however switch to Map View and find your area, then click the small REFRESH button and it'll show location near your selected area.

If you open the VanAlert app and see a "GONE FISHING" graphic that means you have the OLD, non functional version of the app.

Don't worry, there's an easy fix for this. You just need to go into your iOS or Android stores and allow the VanAlert app to update itself to the new platform. Once the app is updated, register as a NEW member even if you were a member of the old platform.

Alex and Bernadette and their two children stayed in our driveway for the night thanks to the Van Alert app.

Sorry I didn't get a better picture of all of us.

So here is a judgment call: do we extend our support to false brother in need?

https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/stolen-astrofalia-in-denver-please-watch-out.193997/

There is not much of a support system for this guy to turn to and I think his heart is in the right place.
Please dont put him on the wall of shame until his van is found.
