Thanks! I still can't believe it almost!
Haha Trevor and Josh, as far as I know I have one originally from each BC, AB and Sask. The milk delivery panel was sold new in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and came to Alberta in 62/63?, the Kombi was in BC until 92 and the window panel has been in AB the entire time.
Here you go, I imagine the local bodyshop did this as the bottom seat brackets were taken off and painted over, nice little floor mat and the heater and choke? controls were moved as well. |

Funny, I dug up that same photo. Is there a chance it is/was another actual barndoor walk thru? _________________ nothing |

Factory?
I feel like the factory would not allow a seat to hang over empty air.
I do like the big handle to release the seat.
That seat is foam-filled, maybe it was done later, unless it was recovered. |
Probably/definitely not a factory swivel seat, but possibly a swivel seat made from a walk thru by a somewhat skilled craftsman? _________________ nothing |

I don't think it was a walk thru. Drivers pedastal is far too narrow. Check out the other pictures of Bob and you'll see a host of differences. The workmanship just looks better that what we're used to seeing on old VW's. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

Agreed. On second look, that is now obvious to me. _________________ nothing |

This thread is unreal...you're getting leads on BD's like as if they're as plentiful as baywindows and super beetles.
Would you mind picking some Powerball lottery numbers for me? I'll need five numbers 1-69, and one number 1-26. Thanks! |

Killer story until I thought about that panel. I was sure that I had seen it on The Samba before... and I was right. Both the Kombi and the Panel have been posted in the gallery several years ago :

The milk delivery panel is definitely not a factory walk through or swivel seat, I have never seen a walk through before so it took me a while to figure it out as yes it is done way cleaner than most 'walk through' conversions. And as far as I know its the original seat and upholstery from when they did the conversion but it could've easily been recovered once. But not any time after 1966 because the registration and insurance papers were still in the bus! Expired in 66, so was the plate on the front.
Thanks for those other photos! I have not seen them yet, that is from the guy I got them both from, younger fellow whose dad got the kombi in the 80's? in BC. In 92 they made a trailer out of it and hauled stuff with it to Saskatchewan, where it sat until 2014? He brought it to his place in Alberta and he found the panel close by his house, so he hauled that home as well. He did order a few rust repair panels and the odd part here and there but never really did much with them. |

Hello from Ontario, Canada:
This is truly awesome. If you had gone out in your backyard and found a box full of gold bars it wouldn't be any more exciting than reading this.
People are literally dragging the rusted remains of these things out of Swedish swamps and spending years painstakingly rebuilding them piece by piece, as they get excited about being able to save a piece or two of original metal here and there.
These buses you have found, put an engine in them, get the brakes working and drive away. Maybe a day's work. They look better than most bay windows I have seen.
Wish I had the same luck finding my elusive pre Nov 1952 split beetle with its original engine and crash box intact and dash uncut.....unobtainium...
Congrats on the find _________________ 1986 westfalia auto 1.9TD

The handle for spinning or adjusting the seat looks like a barndoor gas pedal. That would be trick as hell. _________________ 53 Hatch Barndoor
