Gabe won't respond to email, pm, or voicemail. Not even a phone call. I'm looking for an original 1971 ignition lock cylinder keyed to match the other locks in my bus. If anyone has another vendor, please let me know. TIA _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

I used Justin (steelersbus) on here. He was quick and got my keys cut to code. I think he has a stash of parts too. My search skills suck from my phone, but he has ads up all over the classifieds here.

Hey Aeromech, are you talking about this part or just the actual lock cylinder/tumbler part? I just emailed Gabe last week about it and haven't heard anything. I thought he didn't respond b/c he didn't have the part. Maybe he's on vacation? I am looking for this steering lock housing (as I've been calling it) for my 72 bus but i think the 71 style was a half year part, where it changed mid-way and then was the same through 74. I could be wrong, but that's what my i recall from my research on the topic last week...in case it matters for you.

Gabe does that - he disappears for a while then reappears. There are a couple other folks, Robbie mentioned one.
I did notice here is an ad from Gabe - it was renewed yesterday so you might see if the contact info is the same. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1919310 _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |
