Possible, but hard to say for sure. Bad grounds can cause such crazy things to happen. |
I was re-grinding grounds in my garage because this exact event happened- a faint glow as the filaments tried to seek earth. I never messed with the M/C switch- but you are absolutely right- crazy stuff happens due to poor grounds. It can become a "bop the squirrel" game really quickly. _________________

This is to serve as an update, but here's what it turned out to be: I took the bug to a reputable VW shop. They found a lead from the wiper motor shorting out. Also had to pull the steering wheel and clean out the turn signal switch from hair, dirt, and goo. Grounds were all good, as I thought. So, for $165 she's back on the road! _________________ '63 Ragtop |

Wow !!! Good that it's fixed. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. The '71 now has the 1835 engine, swapped from the '70. Second owner of each. 1988 Mazda B2200 truck, 1998 Frontier, 2014 Yukon, 2004 Frontier King Cab.
