Going to look amazing Buggee. I gotta say, your bubble camper build is equally or more amazing even. I read all of it last night. How do you do it all??? All I can think of is that you are what might be known in the Marvel Universe as an "enhanced human." _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

More like the Star Trek Next Gen universe as "ugly bag of mostly water." Lol. That Playpac was the summer before last so it's more spread out than a quick read would seem. Used to spend hours on end at the soccer fields, basketball games, birthday parties.... now that the kiddos are all declaring independence I'm trying to keep the mind occupied.
Thanks for your encouragement V. It's a fun hobby for sure. I love seeing the results in meat space and am learning alot. _________________ 1966 Sportsmobile Camper https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=...mp;start=0

Wonderful color! Reminds me of other vibrant colors which Porsche had in that era- and you got some on just in time for "Easter egg colors"! |

Riiiiiight! Free lemonade w/a couple of shots of Bacardi silver thrown in for that down-home neighborly feel-good effect! _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

I'd be concerned a little of the adhesive would be left on and you would be painting adhesive that might have absorbed moisture. You could burn it out but you have already painted. There are some other way, surely. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

Buggee, from my expirience, there's no real way to get it all out w/out cutting out the metal. You could hit it from the inside. Or you could roll the dice and soak it w/anit-rust spray, followed by rubberized undercoating and paint. That's what i did on my '72 & '74. _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

So the death foam issue has been heavy in my mind lately for my ongoing '71 project. I was leaning towards cutting an access panel from the inside. But I'm also considering your way - spin and poke from fore and aft. I'm still on the fence and need to make a decision soon. My latest thought involved cutting a panel from within, and then instead of welding that panel back it, make it secure but removable somehow for future access.
But the big question is what to fill the hole with. What do you plan to use to prevent noise and fumes from gaining access to your interior?
Also, your tranny looks very clean! On every project I have done the tranny was oily and took hours with tiny tools to clean all the little areas. And I dig that removable rear apron! _________________ '91 Vanagon Westfalia

On my '72 I used instapak bags. Crushed to activate and quickly shoved in the access "port" on left and right firewall. Once it finished expanding I cut off the excess with a serrated knife. Before that I did as described above after digging out and "rust proofing" as I described above. _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

Me too! Huge thank you for the uplift. Want to see something that will motivate to to get out and do something? Check this madness:. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=717888
So I did!!! And here is today's installment as pictograph essay:
Me and the Missus have been gorging on Game of Thrones so that firewall has my mind in a strange place. I'll be glad when the Chris Vallone tarboard has mellowed it out!
I toyed with a removable apron but ended up welding it and am glad I did. This restores a bunch of structural integrity to the back end and doesn't tax my inadequate fab skills. Gotta get it on the road... flowers are blooming.
Duraglass to smooth the transition for when the lid's up presenting the engine on Wednesday nights. I'll be using the Mexi hood and decklid seals so no c-channels here.
