I recently came across this NOS kit and subsequently purchased it on the basis of if you've never seen one before - buy it!
The VW part number is 211 898 087 and the SP number is SP 202 A as listed in the Split Bus parts book.
As you can see it consists of a spring loaded stay that fits into a rubber buffer to keep the open door firmly open, I guess. The prong of the stay folds down when not in use.
Comes with assorted hardware and seals.
The manufacturer is GHE.
Does anyone out there have one fitted to their Bus or have photos of one fitted?

i remember this one. Friend of mine had a 59 fire engine in germany. It had those same ones installed. They look completely over engineered and awesome. _________________ regards

I've always wanted those for my bus. From what I understand they were common on fire buses and ambulances. Last pair i saw for sale was north of $250 a couple years ago. Hopefully you got a good deal on them. _________________ Phil 4:13

I trawled through some more of my European show pictures and came across this from Bad Camberg 2011.

I have a used pair of these. I am only missing one rubber gasket that goes behind the aluminium base, easy to make another.
As D Train said, Australian Postal service and Telecom (Phone Co) vehicles had these and I'm told Ambulances (They used VW trucks/panels/micros Split screens and Bay windows right up to T3 Syncro's)
Cool bit of kit, my friend has them on her camper. _________________ STEALTH
