Love it! How was the cabin heat?

Well , not too bad, anyway. It fired right up, and I let it run while I cleared the snow off, and drove 6 miles round trip. It was warming inside the cabin by the time I got home. I have the heat plumbed into the fresh air fan, so the windshield clears right off.

I've considered a diesel heater but I don't think I need one.

Driving in Antigua Guatemala in my new 72 SuperBeetle as my work brought me here. Roads are made of rocks, not very smooth. 1st day

I decided to go for it early today. 14 degrees and sunny and we are having a white Christmas here as the snow that came to us Friday is still here because it’s been below freezing since then. I only covered about ten miles but I did notice the thermostat never opened which tells me the engine struggled to get up to temp. I also am glad to be using a synthetic lube in the transaxle because it’s butter smooth, no grind or waiting for it to warm up, believe it or not advancements in lubricant technology have occurred since the 70s😀 so here we go. Season’s Greetings to all.

Took a cruise north of here to help with building a type 3 VW engine. When I got there they were playing with the thermostat. All the sheet metal has been powder coated and looks fantastic. I got up to warp factor 8 on the ride back.

15* outside this morning, took the '73 Super on a 20+ mile highway/city drive. I stopped for gas at the end and out of curiosity checked the dipstick thermometer...

The oil temps showed barely 140*!! Thermostat appears to be good, one of those Awesomepowdercoat new ones.

We don't have a "1968-1979 T1 with murals" thread like the Bay Bus forum does, but I took photos with murals today anyhow. It was 64 degrees and sunny today in western NC, so I took the Sun Bug for a ride on the mountainside and in town for the murals. As wet and cold as the Winter has been, it was great medicine to take a long drive on a Spring-like day with the music playing and sunroof open all day.

Drove my '83 1200 sedan to and from the testing facility. Approved and fresh MOT/APK for 2 years. The weather is terrible, snow and light frost in the morning, which is not very common this time of year, but the beetle held up well.

Driving it to the office tomorrow, see if I can get a nice picture somewhere.

Looks like a Herrod Helper or at least a knockoff of one. You can read about it here: https://twolarrysracing.com/blog/?page_id=485

Drove it to work today in pouring rain, not ideal with dried out windscreen wipers. But since is road legal for the first time in 3 years I really wanted to drive it. Felt good, drove ok. Cut out a few times when coming to a standstill while braking in the early part of the commute, but not in the later part.

First drive (again!) Made it to the gas station and back. It's a start.

Here is a memory of the first drive the first time:
