We took the 71 Super Beetle to a car show. The only volkswagen there among porsche, corvettes, jags and lots of muscle cars. Engine built by me and my thesamba.com friends.

Well, Mrs. Cusser drove the 1970 a couple of hours today, ridding her horse arena of tumbleweeds and other weeds pulling a drag harrow. Arizona had a ton of rain and snow this winter and spring, had a ton of weeds this year.

That looks like the same picture from last year. Are the stickers new? _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

Hey Cusser, can't the horses eat those weeds? _________________ 1971 Super Beetle & 1971 Karmann Ghia

Yes, the horses (two) can eat many kinds of weeds, see the green area in the background of the picture. That area gets mowed with my 2005-purchased lawn tractor; $900, and I've learned to be my own lawn tractor mechanic. Tumbleweeds are tougher to mow than a Kentucky lawn, and dull blades much quicker.
But the arena area really needs to be devoid of larger weeds; the arena is dirt and sand, and yes - we've shoveled some of the new sand by hand, used the VW to help spread the rest. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. I've been doing the break-in on my rebuilt engine, and making sure everything is working great. Had a nice test drive up to Medicine Lake last evening. _________________ Where would this hobby be if no one shipped parts.

Drove 300 miles to upstate NY. Car drove great, got 33+MPG if I believe the GPS odometer. Ngk b5xxx protruding plugs gapped to .024.
Did have a close call on the Garden State Parkway - shredded the fan belt at 70 MPH with Jethro Tull blaring on the cheap radio. [EDIT] The shredded belt almost took out the right shroud to heat exchanger hose too.
Fortunately I'm pretty sure I noticed the light right away and immediately pulled over to the narrow shoulder and replaced it with the spare. On the road again in 15 minutes.
