Are you saying size of the nuts matters, Modok?
It is not how fast things get. It is the movement.
People will have certain confidence to them as they become more experienced. And sometimes people forget what it was like when they were the newbie at one point. I just look at it as chance to offer the knowledge and pass it on to the next generation.
Who knows...they might remember you someday as the selfless individual that you are instead of a greedy jackass.
I just did a build w/ someone and walked him thru all the stuff. Help him install and even teach electrical and tuning stuff so when he is by himself and none to help he can do it. And if he remembers whe I had taught him and fixes it will do me proud. |

not aiming at any body, just recycling with a smile. this is all in good fun.even for the spelling police I hope. there is too much shit in the world these days to start shit hear on a fun site.remember these cars are fun and simple...like their owners. so when shit hits the fan just get out the hose let the engine cool and rinsed it out before it gets blown into the car over the super heated exhaust. and always remember there are many ways to skin cats.some get you bit some get you arrested and some gut you a nice fur. so make your choice wisely and....keep an open mind as things tend to change and there is always a better way. life inside a box is great....until you escape and see the real awesome world we all live in. shit happens, rinse it off and keep going forward....unless there is another pile then take the detour. it's amazing what you can see and learn on detours along with the people you meet. your millage may vary. |

I've been doing frequent laps of the planet in recent years and I'll arrive in a foreign city (foreign to me anyway) and say "ahh...so-and-so lives here" - in reference to a local Samba member. To which my partner responds "Who?".
I've never met another Samba member. In fact I've never hung out with other VW enthusiasts in the real world. I'm the only I know! _________________ "...swingaxle...transaxle...same diff." |

And thus the clouds parted and escorted by winged cherubs playing trumpet, the lord himself came down from his heavenly kingdom and gave Mark back the gift of spelling. And mark, inspired by this epiphany, used the lord's gift of litteracy to tell his fellow Sambanites a beautiful parable about skinning felines and rinsing feces. Rejoice Samba, rejoice.
Ok, joking aside, Mark, you're post was right-on. |

I do know how to spell...95% of the time. but I was educated a little different than most in elementary schools.thus the spelling .( one of those morons that thought we should teach kids a different way to spell everything...kinda funny 48 years later...I cant seem to shake it unless I realy need to. Im not applying to GW, or george town, or yale, or harvard or any more collages.for paper masheay classes.( no I cant spell that one as thats the first time I ever tried and I know it aint right...and..it dont matter) I managed to get through all the schools just fine. although i many not be able to spell Volkswagon , but ..that dosent seem to matter.mine runs just fine.and ...it can spell either. I have met a few sambaniestias....sambaites? sambo's? bimbos?? some of witch are ok some of witch are......and some are even normal (whatever that is) and some low lifes too. in summery...were no different that any other group....left behind by evolution. |

It is better to be known as the "something guy" (in your case funky spelling) than being anonymous. The most interesting and loveable characters in movies, books and tv series all have quirks. Nobody roots for mr. Perfect because he soon becomes mr Perfectly boring.
Anyway, I know you know all that and that you kinda play on it and it is all very entertaining for the rest of us. It just makes me smile when, once in a while, you write an almost grammatically perfect post just to confound the haters.

Been there done that
Have you tried contacting some members when you travel? I bet some would like to meet, talk cars over a beer and/or introduce you to their club or their local VW parts store. Networking makes the hobby so much more interesting and rewarding. Some of us are loners but we humans are all basicaly pack animals. |

I have met several SAmba members when I used to build a few engines and transmissions. MOst are very good people. A one or two tried to take advantage but I cut that short - fast. I don't mind helping people when they need it. I do it all the time. But when they start to abuse, I tell them so. And I part ways never to deal w/ them again.
I have become friends w/ few here too. We do each other favors here and there. That I don't mind. I trade parts for work...machining, balancing....whatever. It is all good to me.
What people need to realize too is that you have family too to take care of. YOu cannot hobby-shop all day long and hang out.
Just saying... is all. Otherwise, I love people here on SAmba. |

I tried the pack animal thing and they just stunk and could no longer play after the long plane ride around the world packed in a box just kidding.I love critters....more than many people yup Ive met a few on my travels.I mised 2 guys when I was in switzerlans&italy a few months ago.really wish I had gotten to see them. but with any luck Ill be back. I love mountain climbing. not many hear to climb in fl. Im 20' above seal level(at low tide) and the highest elevatin in fl is about 35 miles from me...and I cant see it from hear....I think it could just be a hill of cow shit washed down from alabama during a storm. I have learned that is the correct terminology as manure is now the new tree bark.or rather tree bark& slivers is the new manure. and pine bark mixed with 5% peet is the new top soil.....from scotts. I reckon they figure the first time it rains it washes away and they get to sell you more....but it does not work for top soil worth a shit, and the manure no longer works for shit either. go figure. the engineers and scientist were out smarted by the lumber yard disposal team thats now driving Ferrari's. |

NSracing, I just figured out what your avatar is... Duh! I'm usually the one with a twisted mind... I guess browsing primarily with my phone makes it quite hard to see pics that small. |

You can tell some peoples wisdom even if they don't spell a word correctly. I just can't tell if it is intentional for 12 whiskeys in. Either way, if you pay attention, you WILL learn something. |

I think the same thing about Modok. I would be cool to have a HUGE Samba meet Like somewhere middle America! |
So anyone knows a "natural born organiser" who's good at rallying people and materialising ideas? I usually spend most of my summers on the road but I've a few holes in my schedule that I would gladly invest in this. |

Was it not obvious? It is the least obnoxious I can find.
Although I love the one that says ..."Valhalla, admit one!" |
