Another step closer to her final form.
Increased the caster angle (front), added chassis bracing across the front, new upper shock mounts, new body work, custom long spline axles, new cvs and a few other little tweaks.
(Yes, those are 2x4s supporting the rear end... the first springs were too light)

Correct springs installed! She can hold her own weight again (and run, and drive and do more than collect dust).
Adding some paint on the new steel.

Ouch is right. Hard to see what happened... Did the cv ball cage break from over articulation/plunge, or did the half shaft pop out and cause that damage? Pretty impressive either way. _________________ 1800 Type 4 Berrien 295

Honestly, I am not entirely sure... I need to really clean up all the parts and further inspect. Upon initial disassembly, nothing aside from the boot cap is damaged (aside from the missing cv balls/bearings).
Here is what I can tell you (at this point in time), I was driving in a straight line, no grade to the surface. I was driving rather "spirited" and grabbed second gear, heard the tires chirp, I gained traction, then a small pop and lost ability to accelerate. Pulled into the parking lot and saw what you see.
My guess is traction + angle of the shaft (under load) caused the CV to over articulate... But, just a guess. |

I did that once, broke both cvs on the same axle at the same time (type 1). Too dang messy to dink with, just grabbed another axle/cv I had and stuck it in. _________________ My cut in half and rebuild thread

Did it happen again? Or just a fluke thing? |

I had a rowdy little 1915 and dropped the clutch at about 3000rpm. My trans builder calls it abuse. It was stock type 1 stuff, had a half dozen laying around. Now running type 2 cvs, builder said they should break before his type 1 trans. And to quit doing stupid shit _________________ My cut in half and rebuild thread

is it safety glass?
what rubber did you use?
Will eventually want a windshield on mine and all I have is tube frames. |

I got a windshield gasket kit (like seen here: http://eastcoastsandrails.com/shop/accessories/win...r-chassis/ )
I took it to the local glass shop and had them install. The glues the rubber, made a template and installed it for me. Yes, it is safety glass. Cost ~$250. I’m really happy how well I turned out. Looks good and really cuts down in the wind (and bugs) in my face. |

Keep up the awesome work. Can't wait to see another driving video |

New picture day!
The body work was wrapped in vinyl to match the side panels. Still need to get the harness bar installed and new seat pads made.
