I have a problem with cheap oil filters that come loose and drip oil. I was under my van today tightening and cleaning up oil when I must have knocked something loose that controls the idle. Now, I can start the van but when I take my foot off of the accelerator then the idle drops to zero and the engine stalls. Can anybody point me toward the wire that I must have knocked loose?
Thanks! _________________ '87 Westy | @ArizonaAlbert |

Nothing underneath you can knock loose that would keep it from running. What else did you do? _________________ ☮️ |

Hmmm, removed the wire from the O2 sensor? The O2 sender wire gets in the way of poking where you were poking and performance changes when it's disconnected. It attaches to the O2 sender screwed in or near your cat.
BTW, what engine are you dealing with? That can help with a diagnosis. _________________ - Jim

There are a few intake manifold air caps w/in a few inches of the oil filter on a bostig that will cause this symptom . (I may have missed engine info.) _________________ - Jim

I also assumed wbx but it don't hurt to ask. _________________ - Jim

I have a Subaru conversion with the Small Car kit.
I didn't mess with anything else. I swear. _________________ '87 Westy | @ArizonaAlbert |

Do you have a speed sensor connected to your CV joint? If so, check it out. _________________ 1988 Westfalia automatic Subaru OBD1

My dumb guess is that is has something to do with the connection that terminates near the CV joint on the driver's side – shown in the picture.

The image posted above is a small car speed sensor. It is connected to your ecu. If you “bumped” something, that is likely it. Search this forum for Subaru “VSS” for more info. Is your ecu throwing any codes? _________________ 1988 Westfalia automatic Subaru OBD1

There is no speed reference at idle anyhow. I'd be looking for something else. _________________ ☮️ |
