I have an opportunity to buy a 58 deckllid that was made by Klassic Fab which is no longer produced. Does anyone know how well these fit compared to the original?
Thanks,

Mine fit great, saved many hours trying to straighten and fix the hinges on the original. Prob best repro you can get no?
Btw- why do you say they're no longer produced?

Thank you for the response. In regards to no longer produced, I was told by the seller and the only engine lid available on Klassic Fab website is the 50-52.
Do you know of any new ones for sale? |

I have one & it fit great.
I didn't use it... found a super nice original.
The one I have had a little 'flare' about mid-height... kinda like a louver at the edge... of each vertical side part.
I had them removed & metal-worked to be original style.
Here's a '57... no flares in the vertical side inner structure... '58 looks the same on the sides.
I'd check the one you are considering for 'the flares.'

I put a Klassic Fab 56/57 decklid on my 58 SC to be able to incorporate the middle brake light. Fit was perfect.
KF website has some anomalies.
The decklid easy e posted is correct for your bus, but KF refers to it as SC only.
Non BD bus and SC decklids are the same.
Also, under "split bus", the only decklid shown is a BD decklid.
The KF1370 should be listed there too.
Regardless, the KF decklids fit just fine and are available. _________________ The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge

Interesting easy e. The one that I'm looking at purchasing doesn't have those flares and it makes me wonder if it was even produced by Klassic Fab or another company.
Riff - thanks. Searched KF website again and only one 50/52 comes up.

The one I received might have just been put together that way as a minor oversight.
I provided a link to the KF deck lid a couple posts ^^ up the page... see the blue BOLD text. Right above the green picture. _________________ aka: Evan

Thanks easy e and Rif. I clicked your link and it pulled up on KF website. Crazy, I used the search button on the KF website and KF 1370 doesn't come up with anything but your link does.
Thanks for all your help. I will be purchasing directly from KF.

That one you were looking at locally might be a good option still?
You're going to have shipping, fabrication wait time + have to do a skim coat, prime, block sand, etc...
If that one has already been prepped... might be worth it.
But, you didn't say what they were asking for it. _________________ aka: Evan

That looks like a Gerson 4-piece Wolfsburg bus decklid. They had those notches on each side. _________________ WANTED:

Like stocknazi said this is the wolfsburg style inner pressings
It's the original style for bd single cabs so that's probably like it's listed that way
Not sure if it's fix or not by now but they also had wolfsburg pressed front bumpers list as bd only
Honestly I don't even know why he is still selling on the retail level he should be just concentrate on getting parts to dealers instead of getting backlogged with all the small orders IMO _________________ '60 15 window walkthrough

If I'm not mistaken those end pieces are also used on the Treasure Chest doors. That scallop or "louver" is for the mid-height cross brace which the decklid obviously can't have. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

Do the gray lid and the green lid pictured have different stay pivot brackets? |
