The Invasions are not a typical car show, in that we don't have vehicle classes and typical awards and such. However, the day and a half of the Invasion itself the cars are mostly statically displayed. We have tech sessions, a silent auction for charity, and some fun awards (longest traveled, oldest, youngest, etc)
There is no rally aspect to the Invasions. We usually do a cruise of some sort on Friday for those that want to go. This year it is up to the VW Factory/Museum in Chattanooga. Many of us will also drive down for the Saturday dinner together. That is extent of the rallying that we do. <G> _________________ Later,

Thanks for the reply. I don't have a road ready VW at the moment, but I'll try to ride up there on the motorcycle. |

Not so much invite only, more to keep a tally on attendees.
John will update the website as people sign up. _________________ I think he meant "rare", as in "not well-done" |

Made more updates to the Invasion website, including adding more Invaders and info about the Invasion T-Shirts. I also finalized the logo for the 2018 Invasion.
We are up to 43 Invaders now.
Don't forget to make your reservations at the host hotel or the campgrounds/cabins.
Just 4 months away now!

Love the new logo John
June is coming fast! I reserved my spot at the Hampton Inn. Leaning towards taking my fastback because of the Pedro rack modern sound system & because its the only one that is water tight...mostly this actually
now I just have to get it running

I'd tentatively planned to attend but I won't be there - moving out of state 2 weeks before the event. |

Not sure if my Notchback will be on the road by June, but I'm definitely going to stop by and learn all I can. _________________ 1964 1500s Notchback

Made some more updates to the Invasion website. Now up to 54 Invaders! I also added the info for the name tags that Gary & Bev Forsmo make for us each Invasion and the info for the silent auction.
We are actively looking for donations of Type 3 related goodies (parts, toys, posters, artwork, etc) for the auction. If you have something you would like to donate, please contact me and I can get it on the website...or just bring it to the Invasion and we will add it there.
I already added a couple of items that I am donating again this year.
It is coming up fast....almost Spring here in Michigan. Still have lots to do to get our cars ready.

BTW, if everyone that registered shows up, it will be the largest Invasion so far. Record is 43 cars at both the Oregon and Michigan Invasions. Would love to break the 50 car mark.
Dust them off and get them to Scottsboro! _________________ Later,

What's this about you moving again? Heading back north? tired of those humid GA summers?

Yep - moving back to Chicago. Last Summer here wasn't bad - it was worse in Alabama while I was there working on a project (June/July) near Birmingham.
I'm hoping we're done moving for a while so I can dig into my restoration on a larger scale and get the car done. |
