Gonna get to this point...
Lowered and early bumpers. Nothing to radical with this one.

Stupid, stupid idiot PPO! The carb's electric choke wasn't hooked up AND it was set to almost full closed all the time. DOH!
To top it off, the choke screws were so tight, i destroyed them to get them loose enough to adjust them. Finally got it set up so that the chokes go from closed to open in about 40 seconds. Warm idle is about 900rpm.
Runs better now, but OH MY HECK!
I need to find some dual carbs. The PPO removed all the FI stuff, including the wiring harness/brain. So, carbs... |

I'm unruining it. Only lowering and adding t3 parts. No big engine, no air ride... _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Little things taken care of...
Brakes bled, shifter adjusted, washer bottle washering... Still need to deal with the carb, but it is 97.9% ready for the road. That 2% is the carb... Hopefully be summer it will have the stance corrected.
Hey, as I have 4 sets, do the late cars still have the set up to put pop outs in? _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Tram's ready to hook you up with a D-Jet system, I'm sure...
Yes, the late cars' window openings are drilled for popouts. They were available on 1970 cars, but after the flow-through vents were added in 1971, popouts weren't available from the factory.
KTPhil put them in his 71 Fastback, so he could probably give some tips. _________________ 71 Elm Green FI A/T Squareback

All I have are CB Performance ICT's. Pics of that set up are available on their website. You can also look in my Notch gallery as I've got a couple of pics in there too.
If you have a generic set of ICTs, then you'll have to look elsewhere (maybe some of the injected to carb cars in the forum).

I have power to the dome lamp and a new bulb, but no light. Guess it is time for a new dome lamp assembly. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

I will, I thought it was grounded, but perhaps not. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Yes, ground is likely the problem. I remember when I put mine back in it did not work. But when I tried to take it back out to check it, it lit up. I guess wiggling it fixed the ground. |

I tried beating on it to see if it would ground last night. I'll put an aligator clip on it later and see what happens. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Instead of my dome light being grounded through the mount I ran a new wire down the pillar and earthed it to the body, never had an issue since _________________ 1970 Volkswagen Notchback- Bunky |

Once you get your dome light switch ground figured out/repaired, you might find that the "key in ignition" buzzer might also start working.
Before you install the earlier bumpers, will you remove the black paint from the front bumper, or paint/wrap the rear bumper black?
As to the shifter, I suppose the same practice as for a Type 1 would apply, that the shift rod bushing in the tunnel is in good shape. Replace if needed. Then just add a $10 aluminum-base short shift kit and keep the stock shifter.
Good going to get the car roadworthy again. |

That's right. Brian, it would probably be worth your while to take out the door switch and check the contacts there. _________________ 71 Elm Green FI A/T Squareback |
