Our SEVENTH lap around the lake. Our official car count was 128 last year. I can't even image what it will be this year.
There is no better way to see the amazingly beautiful part of California than in an old VW along with the most awesome people. An all-day, all-the-way-around goegeous Lake Tahoe cruise with many stops to gawk and take pictures. Not to mention all the smiling faces and waves along the way.
Offical start of the cruise is in Grass Valley, CA. More information as the event nears. |

A couple reminders and additional information.
It looks like this hot weather is going to stay with us through the weekend. Which means a couple things...First...make sure your vws are up to snuff. Give them a really good once or twice over. Or make sure you have your AAA card. It's always a good idea to exchange numbers with another vdubber...the buddy system if you will, just in case you need a rescue. Also hot weather in the valley means everyone wants to "escape to the mountains." Lake Tahoe will be crowded. Bring your patience. Getting through South Lake Tahoe is always slow, but hey...we're driving cool cars so let's give them a show!
If you're going to stop at one of the Tahoe beaches for lunch, I just found out that they raised the price of entrance to $10 a vehicle. There are other lunch options if you decide you don't want to picnic on the beach. Camp Richardson has a store with deli and outside seating. Also The Beacon restaurant is a great place for lunch. Lake Tahoe is not a dog friendly place, but if you bring your dog you can go to Kiva Beach in South Lake (google map it). There are other options listed in the itinerary. Tons of places in South Lake Tahoe...the casinos, Heavenly, or explore but everyone have a great lunch break. We will regroup at 3pm at Kingsbury Middle School and cruise in to Truckee together.
At the end of lap, back in Truckee, our friends at Avant Werks will be hosting us for a burger/dog bbq. There is tons of parking at their beautiful shop and we will be parking "car show" style. A big thanks again to owners, Drew and Jessica, for opening up their shop doors to us. Please bring a dessert to share, something simple...cookies, brownies, anything that will travel well.
CB users....channel 2.
Remember...the itinerary just outlines our stops. You have the freedom to make DAL yours. If you want to stop somewhere....STOP!! Take pictures...take your time. The great thing is there's plenty of places a long the way to catch up. Can't wait to hear everyone's experiences from the day. Please post your pictures on Facebook.
