Long time looker of thesamba I thought it was time to upload some pis of cars
Here's my latest project

Found this car in a chook shed 3 yrs ago not far from home
It had sat there in the shed for over 30 yrs on the dirt on its heater channels
The pan was used as a farm buggy

Some pics from the weekends activities
Went over for a VW show in Adelaide in south Australia on Sunday
That's a 3 hr cruise along the main highway between Melbourne and Adelaide from home
Left mid morning Saturday to beat the heat ( top of 35c )
Stopped for coffee along the way and also to check out this impressive silo art

Thanks for the positive comments
Turbo tucked up beside the gearbox
Sorry for the poor photos but u get the idea
Also a very complicated fan shroud and gutted oil bath air cleaner and the front mounted oil cooler
All motor / turbo done by a good friend and mate at his VW Worksop

Ok, that turbo setup is kick ass. I read your original post about turbo, and after looking at the engine, I thought maybe it was a typo or meant to be future plans.
How does it run? |

Total sleeper right there!
I'd love to hear what it sounds like!
Also, how does this set up work?

Thanks fellows for the kind words
Yes it is total sleeper 95% of people at the VW show don't pick up on it that's until u start it up, of course I'm biased but I think it's one of the best sounding VW motors I've heard at idle and boost
On our way to Adelaide I swapped cars with my mate so he could have a drive ( he's the bloke who built the motor/turbo setup) and differently has a nice note to it when getting overtaken, probably the 2 " hotdog at the end of the exhaust helps with that
Has far as the fan shroud goes the regulator is mounted on left coil on the right the middle pipes well the one coming down and going to the left is going to the turbo and the one shooting of to the right is heaters running to standard heater boxes with some mods of course another little hidden trick 😃 |

Hidden heater pipes as well! Holy shit man that's cool!
Don't tell me the carb is really a FI throttle body?
Shame you don't have any pics of the motor all built up before being installed in the car, very clever, great to see someone doing something unique and new, I'd love a small turbo engine one day and that has to be the cleanest set up I've ever seen.

Ok so to build this motor/turbo setup I pulled the old motor/ turbo out of my old oval
Now it was a 1600 with the same turbo setup built by the same guy who built the current setup 18 yrs ago and was still running nicely the day I drove it in to do motor swap about 12 months ago
