looks like that smoothgate keeps getting in the way of your awesome work. I would make room next to my 53 oval, just to help you out Smile

What’s the consensus on these semaphore card inserts seen of 54 deluxes.
Where these on 52s?

I don’t recall if the headliner was replaced in the “Hornbecker” 52 , I assume not. But here is an image found showing the cards installed .

I doubt the hornbecker had the headliner replaced.
But two conflicting observations here. Any other 52 owners seen these?

i took my headliner out a long time ago and don't remember any cards but if the Hornbeaker 52 has them then mine must have.

Well it looks like David got them in 👍
Interestingly the standard Pictured on page 14 doesn’t have them.

We put them in the '52. I'm sure Mark had pictures showing the Hornbecker '52 had them. I would have assumed it took them and my '51 Standard has them. Sorry for the poor pics, but it's still wedged in a dark corner...

I've seen them used in an original 51 deluxe.

I've been catching up on some other projects but still trying to keep some things going on the '52. Lots of research, parts and hardware sorting, plating things that got missed, etc. Not much that makes for good pics.

So here's getting some more interior going and sorting seats... This bus really only had the rear seat bottom. The backrest was a late model one. It didn't have a middle seat when Dick got it, and I think we lost some front seat stuff in a mix up with the Sudfunk bus years ago (oops). I got a rear seat backrest from Mark Merz and had it stashed away knowing it'd be a challenge whenever I had to get to it. Pretty crusty, but the correct earlier version... Thanks Mark.

I had to replace a section of frame tube, a couple springs, some of the perimeter, and make a bunch of the wire that ties the springs together on the early seats. I find seat repair to be really time consuming and doesn't necessarily come out looking pretty, but it's solid now...

Some of the other seats ready to go to powder coat...

I've also cut and fit the door panels. I didn't have any good patterns for the kick panels, so I got a set of those on the way from Greg and Clara. I also got a set of their correct folded front door pockets. Big thanks to them for saving some time on that. Here's where I'm at so far...

Here's some recent progress on the '52. I've kind of been all over the place lately. The pedal assembly is installed with a new pedal shaft...

What did you use for the padding?

It's like a 1/4" felt/jute. I found it in an upholstery shop that was closing years ago. It's pretty close to the stuff that was used early on before they changed to the black tar-like composite.
