left lower wheelhouse needs some work. Question is "Does the channel need a patch or can these small holes be welded up?" My plan for the wheelhouse is to remove just enough of it and cut a patch from a repair panel from WW.

This on takes a patch - no doubt. The whole area seems heavily rusted and what left is probably very thing. Only cases where it could make sense to weld up holes is if it is very localized corrosion and area around is in good shape - then you can fill by welding. This small piece of donor metal should be fairly easy to form by hand with normally available tools - Would be a shame to use such small portion of the panel for this small job.

You need to open that up further to access how bad the rust is inside. That's the common spot to rust due to the debris coming off the tires, chipping the paint and rust.

You don't need that repair panel. You can buy small sheets of steel from Ace Hardware, Lowes, etc and cut and fab your own. Just get the same thickness.

Heater Channel repair sections are available if the rest of the Heater Channel checks out good.

Supers and Standards are different where they attach to the firewall. From the looks of your wheel housing ,you have a standard, NO Struts under the fenders.

When it's said that rust is always worse than it appears (usually 3 X), that is the case with your heater channel section.

Thanks for the links. BTW, it is a curved windscreen super beetle. The photo is of a small section near the A pillar. Struts are not visible in this photo.

I thought your wheel housing repair panel was for a standard. Laughing I'll have to remember that there is a piece available that is not the entire wheel housing. I have a 72 that needs that work done as well. Laughing
