has he fixed the lack of shape or 'flatness' on the sides of the fenders? In this picture it looks like not.

can you compare the shape around the headlight bucket? the crease looks somewhat sharp

looks like they fit the body well!

You obviously have some experience with these and/or are savy on the feedback over the years.

To honestly answer I would have to say no the “flatness” at the opening has not been authenticated.

In the case of the pair for the 51 standard my suggestion to the owner is that we make the necessary fine tuning to authentic this area.

In addition we plan “soften” the contour around the headlights to closer replicate the OG flow....

You have a good eye my friend. Thanks for taking the time to help us sort out all the little details that will be getting high traffic once the project is complete. My thoughts are .... standing alone the average Joe may not even see the discrepancies, However when the Volksauto is sitting in a line of early Splits the difference would stand out to the trained eye.

Looking good. The attention to detail on fit and flow are well worth the effort.

They look good forsure. I'm sure with you talented fine tuning skills, they will be perfect.

What happened with the other EXPENSIVE pair of repo fenders that you purchased from Deutschland that were not so desirable?

We did some fine tuning to the the bucket opening on our homemade 1/2” T dolly using only the slapper and it turned out very Kool. We also did a some shrinking and a slight hem to the passenger fender bottom. Checking the contours on the gauge as we go and Im glad to say I like these Gerson fenders and I see a lot of them in my future Cool

I appreciate the vote of confidence my friend. 👊

The last rotation we left off on the rears with some modifications but once we stepped back we could see that we had a bit more left to do. During rotations the Gerson fenders came in so switch gears and start out with those. We will be getting back them at some point. I was generally pleased with the base product to use however the cost just does not justify them moving forward. Gerson should have his rears done this year so we will look to those in the future, from what I hear the price will be less then half the cost of his competitor.

Disclaimer: We do not look down at reproduction parts that need a reasonable amount of fine tuning, in fact it is expected when we order them. We are grateful to all who have stepped up to the plate to produce products that allow us all to live our passion. ❤️

Freakin' impressive, seemingly seamless. The way those fenders flow into that apron is remarkable. And thank you for sharing your tooling concepts, you give us mere mortals something to aim for.

We are having a very productive week so far on the 47. We finished up the door skins using the Pro Spotter and dropped them off for blast and prime.

Next we pulled out the hood for some final tweaks and some shrinking using the Dent Fix maxi machine.
Once we where happy the hood we finally got back onto the decklid. I ordered up some 22g and made the Triangle in the bead roller the last time. I’m stoked how it is turning out.

We made a hammer form so we can mimic the original mounting flanges for the license light. The plan is to add it after the decklid has been pinned down to the table and and the triangle welded in.

The headlight buckets are hammer tightly flush to the body and it looks really cool. The plan is to fusion weld them with the Tig machine

The front bumper is trial fitted and looking good
