I inherited a 1988 Westfalia and need help finding an owner's manual. My dad had such a huge love for all VWs so I want to take care of his Westie. |

also here on Thesamba in the Technical link at the top
Vanagon are lumped into the Type2 category
scroll down to the bottom..
while there isn't an 1988 OM, there is a 1990 and other supplemental manuals
Link for the Technical link above.

I do advise taking a few pics for this thread so we can put a van to the user ID.
Hang out here once in a while and take part in a thread or two, basically assimilate into the community a bit , and these folks will take good care of you. |

I'm in Bristol,TN, USA. It's been driven so that it wouldn't just sit and ruin, thank goodness. I have an original owner's manual, except it's all in French! So I'm trying to find something in English. |

Looks like it came down from the Great White North, which explains the manual…
Nicely kept, you got quite a gift there. _________________ Currently -> Frida: 87 Tizian Red (mostly) Vanagon GL Westfalia w/ 2.0L ABA conversion

Thanks.... My dad loved it! And so do I. He used to be on this site a lot. He spent a lot of time working on the Westfalia and his other VWs. The battery gave out, so I'm getting a new one tomorrow. Then heading it over to a mechanic to make sure everything is ok on it. Today I learned how to flatten the back seat into a flat bed!! I'm also learning to drive it since it's a straight. |

Looks like it has been repainted.
Wolfram is it gray, with a blue tint?
Yours looks to have clear over it. My 87 is that color and in pretty bad shape.
Yours looks quite nice.

I took a community college auto body class. I mixed up a quart of it once, but it never ended up on my Vanagon. It is a rather complex color, like 7 or 8 ingredients. So, that would be 4 or 5 component colors.
