I'm building a dead stock 1600DP for a Beetle. I am having issues with carb choice. I was set on a stock Solex 34 PICT-3, but I love the look of dual carbs.

I had a set of Italian Weber 34 ICTs back in the day and loved the throttle response. But I had them on an 1835 with an Engle W120, header and about 9:1 compression.

Question is...anyone run these Webers on a dead stock 1600 with good results?
If so, what distributor worked best with them?

Yes, you can. SVDA if they have a vacuum port... (I think they do...)

I think most people run dual icts as one of their first upgrades to a stock 1600. Yes they run great. The vacuum port location is not ideal for vacuum advance though. Run mechanical advance only no problems.

Bosch 019 distributor with a pair of ICT Webers is a wonderful setup on a stock 1600. Should be easy to drive, peppy, and return good MPG. Run a basic header or Tri-mil hotdog exhaust and it will be a great and surprisingly powerful setup. An SVDA or 009 would also work, but I'm not a fan of the 009, and Bosch SVDA distributors are expensive enough to just buy an 019 or 010 nowadays...

I can get my hands on an 010.
So, they work well with Webers?

Ran those on a 1600 with Bosch 009 and it ran well.
My best advice is to get good linkage that will stay sync'ed.
