Haven’t done much work on the bug since the transmission swap and motor refresh, runs and drives pretty well. The 3.88 is nice to cruise around, quieter than the old box and driving is a lot less work but I think I’ll refresh the old tranny, swap the spool for a super diff and bag it up in case I decide I want to do some drag racing in the future.
I missed Volkstock, which was a bummer, maybe next year it won’t conflict with the Baja 1000.
I did manage to swap the tires out for 205/70’s and I’m much happier with the look, those old tires were too short. Here’s a couple of pics

I collected a few new parts and have some old parts that need to go back on this car. The running boards I have on it are about shot, after hearing and reading the horror stories about the quality of most replacements I was thinking about buying just mats and refinishing the metal I had, but a buddy said the WW boards fit and looked good so I bought a pair, he was right, fit good and way less work.
I had purchased the parts to redo my accelerator pedal but hadn’t installed them because my pedal was shot so I picked up a Fastfab pedal, looks good, needed a little persuasion to fit and function properly, nothing a file couldn’t fix. Can’t believe how shot the old stuff was.
Finally, I had the breather that was on the car originally, since I swore to myself I would not use sheet metal screws for anything I did to this car I had to wait until I bought a nutsert tool, cheap one from Harbor Freight did a couple then broke, finally got a better one so on goes the breather. I still need to run the lines but I have some 12mm cloth braided breather hose so I can knock that out in the next couple of days.
I still have to run a second fuel line and install electric pumps and regulators, I have a Holley Red pump and regulator for the main fuel delivery and a Blue regulator for the nitrous, just need to get another pump. _________________ My Build: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=665399&highlight=

Chipping away at the stuff that bugs me about my car, 1st job, remove mechanical pump & add breather lines which means I need to install the electric pump & regulator.
Holley Red pump
I need to clean all of this up and figure out why my feed line to the master cylinder are leaking, I think the VW shop sold me the wrong line, probably why it used to be blue.
Picked up some AN fitting for the tank from CB Performance
Drilled a couple of holes in the firewall and installed nutserts for the regulator
Notice anything missing on my linkage?
The lack of a bolt in the third holes been bugging me so another nutsert
Off comes the pump and on goes the old breather adapter along with some new black AN fittings & some braided german breather line
All the breather lines finally installed
Didn't get a pic of the linkage with all three bolt holes occupied but it's finally right, also swapped the bolts out for stainless allens.
I still need to add filter in the front line from the tank to the pump and run the line from the frame to the regulator. I also ordered a fuel pressure gauge for the regulator. _________________ My Build: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=665399&highlight=

I found a leftover piece of brake line, it's not brake line, at least it's not the same brake line my buddy has at his shop. So I have to pull replace those and bleed the brakes, clean up the mess and the rest of the dusty mess under the tank. In the meantime I picked up a fuel pressure gauge for my regulator and installed it, I need to figure out where to put the NOS solenoids, not real happy with where they are and the hose routing is not ideal. You can also see I added the third bolt to my Berg linkage, swapped them all for stainless socket head allen's.
It's going to be really nice this weekend so I plan to knock this stuff out and get some seat time. _________________ My Build: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=665399&highlight=

Wiring jobs been holding up, everything still works all the time. I am going to get under the back seat area and make a panel to hold the 6AL, a fuse panel and a couple of relays for the nitrous system, will probably upgrade a couple switches on the dash at the same time, the ones I have are Autozone cheapies. Will update with some pics when I do that stuff. For now, the black headlight buckets have always bugged me so I pulled them out and apart to paint them gray. I like the way they turned out:

Picked up some Empi H-4 headlights, my car had two different brands, both at least 30 years old, very dim and yellow. These are bright and very white plus they match:
Added some amber markers lights while I was in there:
While I was knocking thing off my list I cleaned up my bump stops, I’ll put them on next weekend:
Lastly for now, I picked up a higher output coil for my ignition, I’ll get this installed when I mount and rewire the MSD box. I need to make a mounting plate to fit under the rear seat, I’ll add a fuse panel and a couple of relays for the nitrous system to that same panel to keep it separate from the main wiring harness. I think I’ll mount this directly to the fan shroud with some nut-serts.

Had a package waiting for
me when I got home today
Looked a little beat up but the contents were undamaged
Finally broke down and bought these, looked for some stockers to redo but never found any worth putting the time and money into, I’m sure a set will pop up on Craigslist next week. Time to pull out the old seats, these seats were in my oval which I built just after graduating high school nearly 40 year ago.
New frames went in with a little persuasion, didn’t need the hammer but they did put up a fight.
Then the final product, I’m pretty happy with them overall, will probably swap the front mounting bolts out for button head allens since you can see them.

This pair of pliers has been bouncing around the floor
of this car for as long as I can remember, they are for opening the hood, not sure why this was never addressed.
The hood release has been a piece of wire sticking through the carpet forever, not anymore.
Also finally got around to installing the blaster SS coil, put a few nutserts in the fan shroud and bolted it up, need to clean up the wiring before I add any pics.
That’s all for now but I have plenty left to do. _________________ My Build: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=665399&highlight=
