I am considering buying a 1974 Thing with mileage unknown ( listed as exempt on the tile). Estimated to be 150K. Will this cause a problem trying to sell it later?
It is an older restoration - new engine, paint top, top frame, gas tank... down to new nuts and bolts.
Should I be concerned about resale? |

With cars this old mileage won't matter much, the overall condition of the car will be more important. Personally I never think much about resale, I just buy what I like and if I decide to sell it I figure I got my use out of it. Buy it and enjoy it! |

Look at the sticky note at the top of this forum, "What to look for when buying a Thing" to see if you missed anything. You haven't even decided to buy it, quit worrying about resale...unless you want to quick flip it. |

I'm also in Columbus (Grove City) and have owned a '74 Thing for 5 years. If you have any specific questions send me a PM and I'll share my experience in searching for and finally buying a Thing in Ohio that was not a just rusty mess. _________________ '74 Thing

US Federal law allows vehicles over 10 years old to be sold as TMU on the whim of the dealer, regardless of whether there is a working odometer in the car.
A lot of "full restorations" of older cars have the odo rolled back to 0, on the idea that the car is basically "new" once restored.

Why would having low mileage hurt its resale value? |
