Does anyone know what size the fixing bolts are for the bottom of the rear seat back in my 1970 Karmann Cabriolet. They are larger than standard beetle ones. They are bigger than M10 and slightly smaller than M12. Does anyone also know where I can buy some from. I'm in the UK by the way.

Is the car from the UK? Maybe someone retapped the holes, if they were striped, to SAE if from the US. Go to your local hardware store and see if they have SAE bolts.

Car is a left hand drive import. Not sure from where from though. What makes me think it is a factory thing is that the hole where the bolt goes through the seat back is larger on the cabrio seat (about 16mm dia) compared to the standard beetle seat( about 12mm dia) the fixing in the car itself also looks to be factory unless the original fixing had been redrilled and tapped.

Try posting this question in the Ghia section, you will have more luck.

If its a "sholder bolt" it's 11.75mm. Around $4.00 at Wolfsbergwest.com.
