I have a type 3 1967 door, will it work with an early door catch? (on b pillar)
Thanks,

All Notchbacks used 3-bolt hinges. 1961-1966 Type 3s used a particular door latch and striker plate. 1967 was a one year only latch, and used a certain striker plate (1967-1971) as well.

Don't forget all Notchbacks (61-73) used 3 bolt hinges, while Fastbacks and Squares used 2 bolt hinges from 66 to 73. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Thanks guys,
Just to confirm the hinge end is all sorted. Basically what I have are 67 only nos doors that I am wanting to fit to a 64 shell. I have the 67 only inner door workings but wasn't sure if they would be compatible with the early latch on the 64 notch b pillar. The car is a Ron lummus tube chassis race car so originality is not hugely important.
Could I adapt the early door catch in any way?

There are 3-bolt '66 Fastbacks & Squarebacks. The three bolt hinge went up to Ch. No. 316 218 359 on those models. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

Yes, I know that, but I was trying to simplify it for the OP. Especially since you're only dealing with a half year of Squares only, since all Fastbacks came with 2 bolt hinges. That is unless someone has a 3 bolt door set up on a Fastback and has pics of it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I believe you're correct about all Fastbacks being 2-bolt from '66. We've had a lot of early '66 3-bolt Squares come through the shop so they're all blurring together. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

I know we have discussed this Lee, but there is also a difference between pre 66 and post 66 3 bolt hinges as this pic shows...
Can you spot it? |

Yup. The upper piece is for a 2 bolt door. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
