I counted 10 Things last weekend under the trees at Kelley Park.

I have a question though about folding the top. I saw a number of them with the tops down, but the loops along the sides still attached. Did they just un-hinge and drop them, and won't that damage the windows?

I have always used the Thing Shop or manual description when folding to protect the window for long periods of time with the top down. Plus if it is not latched at the back and sides it is my thinking it is less like a parachute while driving.

Yes, that is the Thing Shop instructions. Removing the side and rear loops. pulling the top backwards, folding to protect the window, then rolling or folding and placing inside the top frame.

I always remove all the loops also. But I only raise and lower the top once or twice a year. (generally up in summer for shade, and down in the winter.) But it is definitely a pain to do it by the book. If I lived in a place with more rain, and I was apt to raise and lower the top frequently, I might be tempted to just remove the side loops and fold the sucker back, basically trading the longevity of the top for the convenience of putting it up and down more easily.
